Server Hardware
All Servers are RAID configured. If a hard drive fails, each machine has an exact mirror of all data on the machine. If one of the mirrored drives fails, the machine will continue to run with little or no noticeable decline in performance until a Dell technician replaces the failed drive.
Servers are Dell PowerEdge 1750 with 2 drives per machine using on-board RAID 1. Each machine has 8 GB of RAM. The database server has 92 GB of storage and the website server has 146 GB of storage.
An external SAN drive stores database and file backups at the BroadRiver facility.
Data Backup
Databases are backed up on daily and weekly intervals. Database backups are moved to a separate machine daily. An off-site copy is made once per month. The database contains all form based page and event content.
Code Backup
Code is managed using SVN version control. A copy of site code resides in five locations: Main server, development server, and a minimum of three developer laptops.
Images and PDF
Images reside in at least three locations. The main server, the development server and developer laptops.
Secure Co-location Facility
Website servers are co-located at the
DataPipe.net hosting facility. DataPipe consistently performs among the top 10 Internet host providers for connection time and reliability. DataPipe buys transit from 10 Tier 1 backbone providers, including AT&T, Qwest and Level3. They also provide direct connections to the AOL and MSN backbones.
Virus Protection and Firewalls
All servers are protected with anti-virus software and regularly scanned for intrusion attempts. In addition, DataPipe provides port blocking and intrusion monitoring throughout the network. Database and website connections occur behind a firewall to further secure transactions.
